(February 2013) In conjunction with the showing
of a new documentary on Harlan and Anna Hubbard, the late artist-writer
and his wife who lived in Trimble County, Ky., the Frankfort (Ind.)
Community Public Library is presenting a free exhibit of artwork by
Harlan Hubbard through March 23. The exhibit opened Jan. 5. The film
was screened at the library on Jan. 27.
Many of the pieces have never been exhibited before, including illustrations
done for the book Shantyboat and watercolors created
while floating through the Louisiana bayou country.
Louisville, Ky., filmmaker Morgan Atkinson directed and produced the
new PBS-style documentary about the Hubbards. It is called Wonder:
The Lives of Anna and Harlan Hubbard and has recently screened
in Louisville, Hanover College and the Trimble County Public Library.
The gallery and the arts programming at the Frankfort Community Public
Library are named in honor of the Hubbards. The library is located
at 208 W. Clinton St., Frankfort, Ind.
Another screening of the film and mini exhibit was held Jan. 28 in Lexington,
Ky., at the Kentucky Theatre.
