Jefferson
County Courthouse
re-opens for business

(September 2011) – More than 400 people turned
out Aug. 26 to celebrate the ribbon-cutting and grand re-opening of
the newly rebuilt Jefferson County, Ind., Courthouse following the May
20, 2009 fire. Dignitaries from the county and state joined the occasion
to honor area firefighters and police agencies thank construction companies
that worked on the project.

A group shot was taken of representatives from the many
area volunteer fire departments in southern Indiana and Milton, Ky.
The Honorable Randall T. Shepard, Chief Justice of Indiana, was the
keynote speaker.
Then the crowd was invited in to tour the newly restored building, complete
with a new elevator.
Officials hung the new courtroom seals in both courtrooms – that
of Superior Court Judge Alison Frazier and Circuit Court Judge Ted Todd.
Tours of the courthouse were offered to the public the following day
on Saturday, Aug. 27.
