The Oldham County Chamber of Commerce sponsors the annual business
showcase. The event features many prize drawings and giveaways,
a prom style show, silent auction, live auction, demonstrations, food
court and childrens activities. It is a great way to see what
products and services are available by area chamber members and meet
old friends at the many social opportunities it presents.
Our booths have been filling up quickly this year, and everyone
seems optimistic for a great year in 2004, said Kathy Jacobs,
special events coordinator for the chamber.
This years event again will be highlighted by a chamber luncheon
on Friday, Feb. 6, during which the annual Oldham County Top
Achievers awards will be presented. This is the second year
for this new event and awards, and it is sponsored by the Bedford
Bank, BellSouth and the chamber. The business awards are selected
by a committee whose members review nominations made by those businesses
who choose to participate. The categories are Bedford Bank
Community Service Award; BellSouth Business of the Year (Small
Business 1-24 employees); Business of the Year (Large Business 25-plus
employees); E-Business of the Year; Home-Based Business of the Year;
and Non-Profit Business of the Year.
Bill Samuels of Makers Mark will be the keynote speaker at the
luncheon, which begins at noon. Afterward, luncheon guests will be
invited to a sneak preview of the Showcase booths from 1:30 p.m. to
3 p.m.
The door open to the public on Saturday at 10 a.m. Special events
planned for the day include a prom style show, magician, performance
by the Oldham County Singers and a live 9 a.m. broadcast of Cindy
Sullivans morning TV show on WHAS from the site. Childrens
activities include the Monkey Lady, Astro Jump and face painting.
Admission to the event is free.
Participating in the food court this year are Hometown Pizza, A Taste
of Heaven, Euro-Market, Uncle Joes Italian Deli; and Westport
General Store, and the South Oldham Rotary Club.
