(November 2019) – The Madison Area Chamber of Commerce wrapped up the 17th annual Soup Stew Chili & Brew festival on Saturday, Oct. 12, with yet another record year. With chilly fall temperatures, Saturday’s festival brought thousands to Main Street. Attendees enjoyed food tasting at more than 35 food booths, featuring beer and wine gardens, live music, a cornhole tournament and activities for both kids and adults.

The Best of Stew first place award was presented to the Schafer Family Charities for their winning entry of Chicken Cordon Bleu Stew at the Soup, Stew, Chili and Brew event.

The event saw a 25 percent increase in ticket sales, according to chamber officials.

“We are so grateful for everyone who came out to the festival on Saturday,” said the chamber’s executive director, Lindsay Bloos. “This is truly a community festival. We couldn’t do it without our volunteers, businesses, nonprofits and government agencies all working together. We’d like to thank our Premier Sponsor, Ivy Tech Community College along with all of our other sponsors who made the 2019 Soup Stew Chili & Brew possible. Our committee works year-round to make the festival the best it can be. It is definitely a team effort.”

The festival was created as an affordable family and community event to highlight the Main Street shopping district. The festival brings thousands of people to downtown Madison each year and has been great for many businesses along Main Street, officials said. But it also serves as a fundraiser for many area non-profits. It is held each year on the second Saturday of October.
