City Bank awards $6,000 grant
for Oldham County Arts Center
BUCKNER, Ky. (January 2003) The Oldham County Educational
Foundation in December announced that the foundation has been awarded
a $6,000 grant from National City Bank.
The grant will be used to for two important foundation projects. Three-thousand
dollars will go toward supporting arts programming at the Oldham County
Arts Center, currently under development by the Oldham County Schools
with the assistance of the Foundation.

The remaining $3,000 is earmarked for Pyramid Arts Awards,
a grant program that supports innovative projects developed by Oldham
County Schools teachers.
We believe the Oldham County Arts Center will enhance the quality
of life, not only for Oldham County, but for our neighboring communities
as well. We are thrilled to provide this start up funding to enhance
arts programming for our community and customers, said Joan Bryant.

In making this donation we also wanted to show our support for
Oldham County teachers with our grant to the Pyramid Arts Awards program.
Oldham County Educational Foundation Secretary-Treasurer David Thurmond
said, The arts are an integral part of the comprehensive education
programs offered by the Oldham County Public Schools, and lend vitality
to the quality of life in Oldham County. National Citys generous
contribution will allow us to showcase the potential of the Oldham County
Arts Center, as well as support teachers in the classroom.

The money will help provide:
New classrooms to relieve overcrowding at Camden Station and
Crestwood Elementary Schools.
A state of the art venue for performances, rehearsals, exhibitions
and receptions for the design, visual, and performing arts for schools
and community groups.
An Arts Education Center providing educational programming during
school and when school is not in session, including breaks and summer.
An Oldham County Arts Academy providing fee-based, community
wide instruction in the Arts.
Room for Oldham County adult and community arts education classes
Possible new course offerings for middle and high school students
such as dance, orchestra, design and production, and communication.
Offices and performance space for non-profit arts organizations
such as the Oldham County Arts Association.
